Hey everyone, sorry i haven't had the chance to post anything on Jake recently. We don't have access to the internet at home so I am having a hard time finding time. But for a quick update I will let everyone know that on mother's day I got to hold Jake!!!!!!!!! It was the best feeling to get to hold him. The nurse's had to get special permission because he is still so fragile and because he is on a ventiltor that isn't the safest thing to move around. There were a lot of precautions taken and in the end i got to hold him. The best thing was that Jake was awake and we just stared at each other for over 45 minutes. It was GREAT!!! It was the best Mother's Day gift ever!
The other big news is that The RSV ban has been lifted so Brooklyn got to meet her baby brother on sunday! She was in heaven and jake was wide awake to be able to look at her as well. I was so excited to listen to Brookie talk to Jake, she just kept saying Hi baby Jake, Hi Baby Jake over and over! She got to hold his hand and touch his tummy. I was really happy for her. She has been asking when she could meet him. It was very nice! I only wish Cayden could have been there but he will get to meet him on Saturday!
As for Jake he is now 1 lb 15 oz. He looks and feels much bigger to me even though he is still quite small. He is getting his intestines checked today to see if there is any obstruction that is stopping the milk going down which is stunting his growth, but as for now the X rays have all looked good. Which for me, I kind of wish they had found a problem so we could just get it fixed and end this waiting game but he just might have really premature bowels and it will just take time for them to mature so he can grow.
Grant showed us the picture of you holding him and we were all SO excited for you and him, too! I know it has been a long 7 weeks of just looking and touching, so a little cuddling must have made a perfect Mother's day gift for you, too! We are excited to see that he is growing and can't wait for the day that we will get to meet him! Take care and know that you and the rest of your family are in our thoughts and prayers!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see a picture of you holding him! That is so wonderful! I bet it was the best gift in the world!! I'm really happy for you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a WONDERFUL Mother's Day gift for you! I'm so happy for you! The photos on the sidebar, are absolutely precious. He looks so teeny tiny up against you. You look like you are in heaven. Oh how I LOVED those skin-to-skin moments.
ReplyDeleteMy preemie was born the week before Christmas, my Mom kept asking me what I wanted for Christmas, my response remained the same, "to have a healthy baby home and be a family". At the time, I didn't realize how unrealistic that request was. Exactly one month after she was born was my birthday, I got the BEST birthday gift EVER, my baby girl was able to come home.
So happy for Brookie to have been able to meet her baby brother! I'm sure that was a treat in and of itself.
I'm SO glad you got to finally hold him! And now that he's on the Drager, you will probably get to hold him even more!! I remember the first time I got to hold Jaden. I think I cried the entire time! :) It is a special moment to finally hold them next to you, even if you do feel like you are holding more wires and tubes than actual baby.
ReplyDeleteI am SO sorry for what you have had to go through! I am sorry I didn't even really know what was happening until now- we don't even get the newspaper so I am a bit out of the loop. I'm glad it has gotten a little bit better than it has been. What a blessing for you to be able to stay up in Salem this whole time- close to your cute little boy:)
ReplyDeleteI know I don't know you that well, but I have always been impressed with you and your husband since hearing you speak to our Young Women and Young Men in Fayette a couple of years ago and seeing all the good you accomplish as PTA President and Y.W. President and as a young Mom. You are an amazing person and someone who can handle this type of situation- you are stonger than you think! I know I would probably not handle things as well:)
Thanks for telling me about your blog and good luck with the move. I know you will be greatly missed in the Gunnison Valley. Good luck with all that's to come- you will be in my thoughts and prayers.
